The AgriOpenData project aims to create a Decision Support System for the agriculture industry that will help and support the farms to correctly manage herbicides and fertilizers treatments, through the collection and exploitation of open data, integrated with information gathered during the fieldwork.
The AgriOpenData project aims to help farmers to improve their herbicides and fertilizers treatments, in order to make them more efficient and effective. A safer and more adequate use of pesticides and herbicides in agriculture, and consequently a better quality and healthier products, are a growing concern among UE citizens and institutions, and are assuming a great relevance for their environmental consequences. The AgriOpenData project will create a Decision Support System for the agriculture industry that will help the farms to correctly manage herbicides and fertilizers treatments, through the collection and exploitation of open data, integrated with information gathered during the fieldwork. An innovative, high-tech, easy to use and technically complete platform, will support farmers to create their own “farm diary”, a real time record list of the agricultural treatments, elaborating, re-using and offering synergies among all available open data, with a remarkable cost savings and improvement in the optimal management of herbicides, which will and to positive externalities for agriculture and the environment.
The Value proposition, includes 7 areas/functions (Legal compliance, Compliance to product specification - and Global Gap Certification, Efficient use of resources and environmental control, Enabler for IOT and Precision farming, Agri Business Intelligence, Consumer social awareness, Belonging to a users community), that were shared and validated with potential customers through interviews and focus groups. The AgriOpenData platform development project aims therefore to implement these 7 areas/functions, in order to create a complete, customer – oriented and innovative tool that will be ready for the market within 6/8 months.
We will use FIWARE in order to optimize the time-to-market from the current prototype, which has been developed as a monolithic solution and therefore is not suitable for scalability, by using different aspects of FIWARE, such as its orientation towards cloud computing reuse and composition of existing services. The platform will have different roles with different authorizations, so we will use the GE KeyRock, which greatly simplifies the identity management and allows obtaining advanced functions such as Single Sign-On when using other applications or components from the FIWARE catalogue, as well as the possibility to unify the identity management on mobile devices. Our expected users tend to use the platform in specific and concentrated moments of the year, with peaks of use in limited periods, because of the seasonality of the farming work. It is therefore fundamental to use a cloud platform having a provisioning possibility, which could be scaled from the resources (GE Paas-manager-pegasus) in order to deal in an affordable way the type of workload. The treated data will be georeferenced and this makes the use of management systems of POI and spatial queries very interesting, for example, GE poi-data-provider allows the extraction of data provided by farmers and makes visual analysis easier to other kinds of users, like consultants, thanks to interactive maps, even on mobile APPs. The presence of complex regulations concerning the use of plant protection products, whose applicability depends from a whole set of parameters, makes the use of systems such as GE Complex Event Processing (CEP) interesting for the management of events registered in the “Farm diary”, and Contextualized with the ease of GE Orion Context Broker in order to elaborate data in terms of context. The Business Intelligence functions will be carried out by the GE SpagoBI
The product will include a portal and an app for mobile devices in order to allow farms to correctly manage plant protection treatments in the plantations, the management of traceability in the production chain, in full compliance with the applicable regulations and which, thanks to the use of database in Open Data mode, will always have updated information. The platform will be based on FIWARE Cloud computing technology, scalable depending on its use and on the seasonality of the cultivations and of the treatments, allowing to access data from any device without installing any software. It will allow the full management of the treatment register, of the production chain management from sowing to marketing, by allowing the promotion of European agricultural products, thanks to their complete traceability and it will use the Open Data database to access updated data sources for plant protection products, regulations, agricultural products, weather forecasts, cadastral data, by reusing information already present and available in the net, but not currently included in the management applications.
L'obiettivo generale di Agri OpenData è quello di soddisfare le esigenze di aziende agricole italiane ed europee di avere uno strumento per gestire le attività riguardanti l'uso di trattamenti fitosanitari sul campo e la loro tracciabilità, nel rispetto di tutti gli obblighi giuridici a livello nazionale ed europeo e, allo stesso tempo, per tracciare tutte le informazioni tecniche sui prodotti utilizzati. L'obiettivo specifico del progetto è quello di sviluppare, testare e commercializzare una piattaforma di Cloud, che consente alle aziende di gestire, monitorare e analizzare i dati sui trattamenti di produzione vegetale in modo efficiente ed economico. Migliorerà inoltre la gestione quotidiana del "Registro dei trattamenti", che è obbligatorio per tutte le aziende italiane ed europee. EZ LAB srl creerà una piattaforma software, disponibile in modalità nuvola, che permetterà ai poderi di avere il pieno controllo sui trattamenti utilizzati, la disponibilità dei prodotti, l'adempimento di legge e che l'accesso per aprire i dati al fine di ottenere aggiornati i dati riguardanti i prodotti fitosanitari, fertilizzanti, semi, previsioni meteo e le mappe catastali, senza intermediari consentendo rapporti diretti con le istituzioni locali ed europee
